Instagram launches video chat

Facebook today announced that Instagram,  its popular photo-sharing platform, is getting support for video chats, among a couple of other new features.

As Facebook co-founder and CEO Mr.Mark Zuckerberg noted in his F8 keynote today, quite a few Instagram users already use the platform’s live video feature to chat with friends. “People use live video to just hang out,” he said.

We haven’t seen the new video chat in action, but chances are it’s a pretty straightforward feature that will expand on the existing messaging tools in Instagram.

In addition to these video chats, Instagram is also getting an improved Explore tab that, according to Zuckerberg, is “more focused on the things you are interested in.”

Instagram is also getting a new filter to protect users from bullying comments. “This new filter hides comments containing attacks on a person’s appearance or character, as well as threats to a person’s well-being or health,” the Instagram team writes today. In addition to the automatic filtering, Instagram will now also get alerts when there are repeated issues with an account.

 Instagram is also getting support for Facebook’s AR features with AR features from third parties.

The company made the announcement at its F8 developer conference in San Jose today, where the company also announced a somewhat related new feature: group video chats in WhatsApp.

These new features will roll out over the course of the next few weeks.

New models of Product Red portfolio were launched internationally.Countries like Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, South Korea, UK and the US already have the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Red editions available to them.

• Infact, India among the third wave of launches.Though not the pioneers of bring the color red to phones, they were definitely the first ones to design an entire marketing campaign around the color. 

• After the Apple’s launch, brands like Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus followed suit. 

• All the money that Apple receives from the sale of Red Edition phones goes towards Red, the global fund for HIV/AIDS grants.

More specifically, Red is a company that seeks to engage private sector companies with raising funds and increasing awareness about the epidemic of  HIV/AIDs in eight African nations.

Nokia Plan to bring new smartphones in India

Mobile phone company HMD Global is likely to roll out new smartphones from April and a new version of its 22-year-old handset Nokia 8110 from May in India.

HMD here unveiled four smartphones, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, new Nokia 6 and Nokia 1, in the price range of EUR 85 to EUR 749.

The company also relaunched it's 22 year old feature phone Nokia 8110 with the support of 4G services for 79 euro or about Rs 6,300 excluding tax.

When asked about launch of Nokia 8110 in India, the spokesperson said "starting May" though specific date for India is not decided.

Three new Nokia smartphones - the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 7 Plus and the new Nokia 6 - are built on Android One platform and will support artificial intelligence technology.

With the price of 749 euro or around Rs 60,000 a unit, Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with 5.5-inch display built with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 , dual rear sensors with ZEISS optics and a secondary 13MP sensor with 2 times optical zoom.

Nokia 7 plus unveiled here has been priced at 399 euro or around Rs 32,000 , comes with 6-inch display, 12 MP primary camera and 13 MP secondary camera, 3800 mAh battery. New Nokia 6 and Nokia 1 will retail at global average price of 279 euro and 85 euro respectively.

Moto Z2 Force launching in India on 15 February

After launching the Moto Z2 Force in the US in July last year, Motorola is now gearing up to launch the device in India on 15 February. The device will come bundled with the Moto Turbo Power pack which was launched in India in December last year with a price tag of Rs. 5,999.

Currently, there is no information about the India price of the Moto Z2 Force, however, the device was launched in the US starting at $799 and is expected to be priced similarly in India.

Moto Z2 Force Highlights:

• The Moto Z2 Force runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and features a shatterproof 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Gionee S11 Smartphone launching in India- Jan 2018

The device was launched by the company during an event in China last month along with the S11s, M7 Plus, F6, F205 and Steel 3. The highlight of the Gionee S11 is its quad camera setup and a thin-bezel design. It was launched in China priced at CNY 1,799 (Rs 17,650 approx), but there is no information on an Indian price yet.

Highlights:

• Gionee S11 features curved edges and a glass unibody design similar to the HTC U11 .

• Its 5.99-inch display with 2160 x 1080p resolution and a taller display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

•  This S11 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P23 processor.

•  It comes with 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via SD card.

• The S11 features a 16MP + 5MP rear camera setup with an LED flash and comes with a 16MP + 8MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Google makes Faster & Simple payment through "Pay by Google "

Google rolled out a new payment solution called ‘Pay by Google’ . The new facility is in addition to Google’s existing Android Pay and Google Tez payment services. Pay by Google focuses on making online payment process faster and simpler for Google users.

Launched in the US, the service is currently available with select outlets such as Doordash, Eat24, Instacart, Kayak, Postmates, and Wish. The company will be soon adding more merchants including Airbnb, Papa John’s, and StubHub to the list.

For payment, Google has tied up with more than 40 payment providers which include PayPal’s Braintree, Stripe, Vantiv and Worldpay, among others. More payment partners are expected to join Google’s new platform.

How it does work?

The ‘Pay by Google’ feature essentially uses your payment data saved on Google products such as Google Play, YouTube, Android Pay or Chrome. Suppose, you have saved your credit card on any of these services, the ‘Pay by Google’ will unify all these data into a single interface.

This means when you make an online payment using ‘Pay by Google’, you won’t need to re-enter your card details or shipping address, making the process of checking out much faster and easier.

Samsung Galaxy S9 -Expected in March 2018

Samsung S9 expecting in March 2018 launch. While recent rumors suggest the S9 will launch in January, that seems too early given people are locked into contract cycles.  However, it's possible that the phone will be teased at CES in January, before a March launch.

There has been a ton of speculation and reports about the Galaxy S9, Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone. Now fresh evidence indicates that the Galaxy S9’s screen-to-body ratio could be as high as 90 per cent.

If the report turns out to be true, Samsung Galaxy S9 would have a 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio, compared to the 84 per cent on the Galaxy S8. While it might not sound drastic, it’s going to take the device’s design to a whole new direction.

The report further said that the bottom chin on the Galaxy S9 will going to be non-existent, and the top-bezel will be narrower than the Galaxy S8’s  bottom bezel. All this indicates the Galaxy S9 will have negligible bezels, similar to the Mi Mix 2 and Essential Phone.

While it’s too early to speculate about the Galaxy S9, Samsung is believed to launch the device earlier than the original schedule. Evidently, Samsung plans to showcase the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January next year.

The awaited Indian Scout Bobber is all set to be launched in India on November 24 at the 2017 India Bike Week(IBW) and

motorcycle will be launched in the country at a price of Rs 13.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad).

The Scout Bobber made its global debut in July this year and it takes its design inspiration from the company's Scout family. Furthermore, the bike will come with a minimalistic body work that offers it a rugged and raw kind of a look, which is completely different from the typical design philosophy of Indian Motorcycle range. The 2018 Indian Scout Bobber will be brought to India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.

Specifications:

Powering the Indian Scout Bobber is a 1131cc, liquid-cooled, twin cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The stopping power to this motorcycle will be delivered with the help of 298mm disc brakes that have been fitted at both ends.

An ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) comes standard.

The front gets new telescopic forks while the rear suspension has been lowered by 25mm.

The Indian Scout Bobber gets chopped rear and front fenders, knobby tyres and tracker style handlebars. 

Also, the motorcycle gets blacked out wheels and the position of footpegs has been pushed ahead by 38mm. 

The motorcycle will challenge the likes of Triumph Bonneville Bobber, Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber and Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight in the Indian premium bike.

Dinner Table App Launched by Australian Scientist

Australian scientists on Monday launched a “dinner table” app in an effort to tackle aversion towards consuming vegetables.

Research indicates two out of three Australian adults are not eating enough vegetables, a factor that is contributing partly to the nation’s health and obesity problems, reported by Xinhua news agency.

VegEze app, developed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, aims to encourage Australians to add extra vegetables to their daily diets. CSIRO nutritionists will study how effective the app’s game-like nature is at changing people’s eating patterns as part of a broader research study.

These approach was needed to improve Australia’s vegetable consumption and diet quality. Our research found two out of three Australian adults are not eating enough vegetables, especially as part of their evening meal. It’s time to find more engaging, effective approaches to help break these entrenched diet habits.

WhatsApp may introduce app for iPad users

Now happy news for all iPad users.
Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp may be working on an app for iPad users as references of WhatsApp for iPad are spotted on latest WhatsApp desktop app.

According to a tweet from popular WhatsApp change tracking website WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is gearing up for a dedicated application for iPad.

Great news for all WhatsApp users having an iPad device. Our rumour about a WhatsApp for iPad app was real WABetaInfo tweeted. WABetaInfo also stated on Twitter the WhatsApp Desktop 0.2.6968 app references for an iPad application.

 However, the WhatsApp tracking website did not reveal whether the company was planning for a standalone application or will it be just a client application like the WhatsApp Web.

Whatsapp has recently introduced a series of new features like ‘Delete for Everyone’ that allows its over one billion users to revoke their messages in case they sent those to a wrong person or group. The instant messaging app also confirmed group voice calls in its latest beta version of Android in October.

Flipkart to launch its own smartphone, Billion Capture+ - 15th Nov 2017

Flipkart is entering the smartphone market with its own offering Billion Capture+. The company will be launching their first smartphone on November 15.

Flipkart has already launched a dedicated page for the new Billion Caputre+ on its website. As the name suggests, the phone will be a camera-centric device with "state-of-the-art dual camera" which also boast features like super night mode, bokeh effect and depth-of-field.

There is no official confirmation from the company regarding the specifications of the camera or any other components of the device.

Surprisingly, Flipkart will be offering unlimited cloud storage with the Billion Capture+. We are not sure if Flipkart will provide its own cloud service or provide Google's cloud back-up. The device's display will feature FullHD resolution

•  The company claims 130 service centres in 125 cities across India. 
• This will help Flipkart overcome one of the biggest challenges of a new smartphone brand.

Facebook now launches disaster maps in India

After a global launch in June this year, Facebook is bringing disaster maps in India which will help government and humanitarian organisations in getting crucial citizen data such as their whereabouts and movement in times of crisis situations such as floods or earthquakes.

The social networking giant which tested the product during recent natural disasters such as Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and some markets of Europe has partnered with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and not-for-profit group SEEDS.

Apart from the safety check and community help features, the disaster maps will help organizations address the critical gap in information they face when responding to natural disasters. The maps which will only be available to government and humanitarian organisations rely on the self-shared location data of the users.

Ritesh Mehta, Head of Programs, India, South and Central Asia at Facebook said that in times of disaster, Facebook is a valuable source of information - whether it's letting friends and family know you are safe with Safety Check or using Facebook to raise donations for relief efforts.

 “India is one of the most natural disaster-prone countries in the world. Through our work with India's NDMA and the rollout of disaster maps in India, and the disaster information volunteers initiative, we hope we can help communities get the information they need to prepare, respond and recover if disaster strikes,” said by Mehta.

Chaya Nayak, Public Policy Research Manager at Facebook said that so far Facebook has used the product in countries such as Peru, Mexico and some parts of Europe. “Using the maps, we can not only track location trends of the affected population but also see what their movement trend is.” US based Nayak added that even intelligence such as tracing areas which don’t have connectivity and may require help can be figured out through this.

Facebook is also supporting a programme which will establish a network of volunteers to provide real-time, first-hand information on disasters in their local communities. It will be executed by SEEDS, a NGO working on disaster resilience and will be piloted first in two disaster prone states - Assam and Uttarakhand.

First unveiled at the 2017 LA Motor Show, the EcoSport was the first to introduce the compact SUV culture in India. It proved to be a success story for the American brand in the country with some variants having nine months of waiting period. It has quite long that EcoSport received a refurbishment, and in this time and many brands came up with compact SUVs that rose to immense popularity, such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Now though, the EcoSport is back with better features that should help it get ahead in the line.

OnePlus 5T launching in India - 16th Nov 2017

OnePlus 5T will launch on November 16, confirmed the company. OnePlus has put a video teaser for the launch of its upcoming smartphone. OnePlus 5T will likely feature a bigger display with 18:9 aspect ratio and according to the tagline, the company is promising ‘A New View.’ OnePlus 5T will also launch in the Indian market and the company has confirmed the same to the media. Here’s everything to know about OnePlus 5T and its launch.

Launch date and timings:

OnePlus 5T’s launch event takes place on November 16 in Brooklyn, New York. The event starts at 11 AM ET which is 21:30 hrs IST. It looks like OnePlus is going all out for the 5T launch. The company plans to have a live event at PVR Chanakyapuri, Delhi as well on the same date. Fans will also be able to watch the launch live in select PVR theatres across Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. OnePlus is selling tickets for the event at Rs 99 on Bookmyshow website from November 8 from 10 am onwards

Expected price in India:

OnePlus 5T will have an “early access sale” on November 21 at 16.30 IST (4.30 pm) on Amazon India and oneplusstore.in.The official sale for OnePlus 5T will start from November 28, says the company.

OnePlus 5T could see a price tag closer to Rs 40,000 given the phone will sport a newer display which is edge-to-edge with reduced bezels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. OnePlus 5 starts at Rs 32,999 in India and the high-end 8GB RAM variant costs Rs 37,999. Given OnePlus 3T was priced slightly higher than OnePlus 3, we expect the same with the OnePlus 5 series.

Major point of difference in the new phone:

The display is expected to be the major change. According to leak pictures and specifications, OnePlus 5T will have a 6-inch FHD+ resolution display with 18:9 aspect ratio. OnePlus 5 had the same 5.5-inch display we’ve seen the company use on the OnePlus 3, 3T smartphones. A bezel-less display on OnePlus 5T will also mean that the front home button will disappear and according to leaks the fingeprint scanner will shift to the back of the device. The overall design of the OnePlus 5T will be different compared to the OnePlus 5. However, specifications are expected to remain the same.

What's other expected specifications:

OnePlus 5T will continue with the Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB or 6GB RAM along with 128GB and 64GB storage options respectively. The dual rear camera is unlikely to change and it will stick with the 16MP+20MP sensor combination. OnePlus 5T will also likely ship with Android Nougat on board, though the Android Oreo update might roll out before year end.

Kawasaki Z900RS - Another classic version of the Z900

Kawasaki seems to be reviving its love affair with classic motorcycles these days. Just last month, we saw the exquisite retro styled Z900RS, and now the Japanese have come up with another classic rendition of the Z900, the Z900RS Cafe.

How it's First impressions?

 It looks utterly gorgeous with racer motorcycle looks from the yesteryear. Classic on the outside and as modern as it can get inside, the Z900RS Cafe Racer was a surprise unveil at EICMA, currently being held in Milan, Italy. Kawasaki took the Z900RS and gave it new colours, a lowered handlebar and cafe racer fairing. It has also got a sportier looking seat with a hump at the back. Like the Z900RS, the new motorcycle is also equipped with traction control and a slip-assist clutch.

Kawasaki first unveiled the Z900RS at the Tokyo Motor show last month, which is a modern classic version of the Z900. The Z900RS had been a much-awaited motorcycle in Kawasaki's lineup. It is inspired by the 1970s Z1 and is based on the Z900. However, it is not just a cosmetic change from naked to a modern classic, a number of changes have been made under the skin, with a redesigned chassis and a retuned engine.

The Z900's 948cc in-line-four has been retuned for stronger low-to-mid-range torque. Peak power is down from 125hp to 111hp while peak torque drops from 97.8 Nm to 72.5 Nm but Kawasaki says the payoff is stronger torque below 7,000 rpm. The cafe racer version will also be powered by the same engine with the Z900RS tuning.

Funds India Launches One - Step Aadhaar linking to Mutual funds

FundsIndia.com, an online investment platform, has launched a one-step facility for its investors to link their Aadhaar number with their mutual fund investments.

As per the government rules, mutual fund investors must link their Aadhaar number to their investment accounts  before 31st March 2017.

Investors can use FundsIndia's feature to link their Aadhaar number with the AMCs they have investments with. It will eliminate the inconvenience of linking the Aadhaar number individually with different AMCs.

"Linking Aadhaar number to mutual fund folios has become mandatory and it could be a big hassle for investors. At FundsIndia, however, we have made it easy with a single-stop linking facility that will take away the pain for our customers," said Srikanth Meenakshi, Co-Founder and Director, FundsIndia.com.

ITC Launch Farmland Potatoes

FMCG major ITC has ventured into the packaged fresh fruits and vegetables segment with the launch of a new brand called Farmland.

The company will unveil four variants of potatoes as its first product under the brand, which will soon be launched in Delhi, followed by other key metros.

S Sivakumar, Group Head - ITC’s Agri-Business and Information Technology, said: “We expect to make Farmland potatoes available in about 1,000 stores in the next two-three months in Delhi. We hope to be present in the key seven metro cities in the next 12 months. Farmland potatoes will be sold not just through modern stores and e-commerce but we will also tap a large number of neighbourhood stores.”

Sivakumar said fresh fruits and vegetables were a fundamental part of a consumer’s food basket and also key to providing enhanced incomes to farmers who are an integral part of ITC’s farm-to-fork value chain. “Farmland will provide safe and nutritious fruits and vegetables for consumers, while opening up a new value-added segment for farmers for enhanced income,” he added.

The four introductory Farmland potato variants include naturally low-sugar potatoes, potatoes with natural anti-oxidant, baby potatoes and potatoes for French fries. The company said these will be priced at 10-15 per cent premium over local prices, adding that Farmland products would not see fluctuations in prices, as seen in the market.

The company said it would leverage the strengths that it had acquired over the years in the potato category, with access to 250 varieties and strong supply linkages.
