Vodafone India to launch VoLTE service in January 2018

India’s one of the largest telecom operators, Vodafone is set to roll-out its VoLTE services beginning January 2018.

 What's VoLTE Service?

VoLTE stands for voice over LTE and it’s more or less exactly what it says on the tin. To make it more clear, it stands for voice calls over a 4G LTE network, rather than the 2G or 3G connections which have traditionally been in use. It offers improvement in the quality of voice calling. Apart from high definition voice quality, it can also provide improved coverage.

The service will allow the Vodafone Super Net 4G customers to experience HD quality crystal clear voice with super call connect time. 

The telecom operator will not charge anything for the service and the customers will only need a handset supporting Vodafone VoLTE and a 4G SIM. Currently, only Reliance Jio and Airtel are offering this service in India.

CEO of Vodafone India, Mr.Sunil Sood said that the telco is getting ready for the future by introducing newer technologies and digital services.Vodafone is getting Future Ready with the advent of newer technologies and digital services.

The introduction of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) will enhance customer experience with HD quality calling and offer our customers newer possibilities. Vodafone VoLTE is an important step towards introducing futuristic technology enhancing our Data Strong Network said by CEO.

The telecom operator plans to make the service available across the country but in the first phase, Vodafone VoLTE service will be available in Mumbai, Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, and Kolkata. 

Vodafone has built a robust and resilient Data Strong Network of almost 140,000 sites that enable better call quality and mobile internet experience to its customers. This will be a key differentiator for Vodafone in providing seamless connectivity and experience to its customers.

Vodafone has its mobile operations in as many as 26 countries, partners with mobile networks in 48 more, and fixed broadband operations in 19 markets. As of 30 Sep 2017, Vodafone Group had 522.8 million mobile customers and 18.8 million fixed broadband customers, including India and all of the customers in Vodafone’s joint ventures and associates.

Apple address about Why iPhones batteries are running "Slower"

Apple is being super petty and trying to force customers to upgrade their phones by making their old phones run slower.Instead, Apple is focusing attention on smoothing out the very high and quick peaks of power draw that can cause problems with older batteries.

In statement made to Techcrunch, Apple said “Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices. Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components.”

Basically, what Apple’s software is doing is limiting the power draw of the iPhone’s processor in order to prevent unexpected shut downs and help extend the life of an aging battery. The main reason for this is because as lithium ion batteries get older, their ability to hold a charge diminishes, and sudden power draws can place a bigger burden on the battery than it can actually handle, resulting in the phone randomly turning off.

Apple’s statement went on to say, “Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions. We’ve now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future.”

This second part confirms that updates to iOS were responsible for the CPU throttling, which was an effort to reduce bursts of power usage (like you would see when running a benchmark app), and is what caused the low scores that Reddit users and Primate Labs described when testing older phones. It seems all of this was a deliberate move on Apple’s part, and that the company will continue to include these features in future devices as well.

World’s first "Sand Art "Online Course in India

 The sand  artist Mr. Sudarshan Pattnaik can build you virtually anything.

And now, his dream of taking the art form to art enthusiasts with an online course will soon become a reality with the support of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the HRD ministry.

• Announced almost a year back, Pattnaik’s ambitious project, scheduled for launch in March 2018, will be world’s first certificate course in sand art.

• It has been decided that the course will begin before March 31, 2018. They have already started work on it and video lectures have been prepared.

• India to become the first country across the globe to offer such training to sand artists, said by Mr.Pattnaik.

They want to give a platform to upcoming sand artists and submitted the course design and syllabus and now will fine tune this. They had been waiting for their response for over a year and now they have given  assurance that the course will begin in March 2018.

The artist, who already has an open air Golden Sand Art Institute at Puri beach imparting professional training in sand art, believes a digitised course will help students hone their skills by following instructional videos.

Sand art is essentially a practical art and the more you practice, the more you learn.
The videos will have all the details and step-by-step procedure of making sculptures in sand.

According to him, several “brilliant” sand artists lag behind due to the absence of the required academic background.

However, the artist insists it is important that the initiative be taken by a government institute like IGNOU to have a larger impact.

SBI Changes IFCI code of Around 1300 Branches in India

The country's largest lender has changed the names and IFSC codes of branches located in major cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Lucknow, among others.

Some of our old associate branches are getting merged with SBI branches. When that merger happens, the IFSC codes get changed.

Customers have been informed about the change in IFSC codes, but internally also the bank has mapped them to the new codes.

Even if some payment comes based on the old IFSC codes, it will get mapped with the new codes. It will not cause any problem to any customer.

The bank has put up the list of branches with old and new names and IFSC codes on its website.

Indian Financial System Code, or IFSC, is an 11-digit alpha-numeric code used to uniquely identify all bank branches participating in any RBI regulated funds transfer system.

The IFSC code is required to transfer money from one account to another using RTGS, NEFT or IMPS methods.

In April this year, SBI merged its five associate banks - State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore - and also Bhartiya Mahila Bank into itself.

Steps to link Lic Policy with Aadhaar

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) had issued a circular making it mandatory for all policyholders to link their Aadhaar and PAN details to their insurance policies.

All life insurance companies have made provisions, both offline and online, for their policyholders to link their policies and Aadhaar. Here's a look at how the policyholders of Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC), can link with online and offline.

ONLINE PROCESS:

Before you start the online process, keep these documents and numbers handy:

• Aadhaar Card and PAN card
• Policy numbers

Make sure that your mobile number is updated in your Aadhaar card. If not, then get it updated before linking them. You will have to enter the mobile number as registered with UIDAI as the OTP generated will be sent to this number.

Step 1: Visit the LIC website, and on the homepage click on 'Link Aadhaar and PAN to policy'.

You can also click here to go directly to the linking page (https://kyclink.licindia.in/UIDSeedingWebApp)

Step 2: Fill and submit the form after furnishing Aadhaar, PAN, email, and mobile number.

Step 3: A message will be shown on the success of the registration for linkage.

Step 4: After verification with UIDAI, an SMS or email confirmation will be sent to you. The verification may take few days.

OFFLINE PROCESS:

If for any reason you cannot do the linkage online, or especially when you are not required to hold PAN (and therefore have to furnish Form 60), here's how you can link your policies offline.

What you need:

• Aadhaar /PAN mandate form
• Self-attested copy of Aadhaar card and PAN Card / Form 60
• Policy numbers.

To get the form, either ask your agent to get one for you or download from the LIC website .

After filling the form, you can submit this Aadhaar / PAN Mandate Form along with a self-attested copy of Aadhaar card and PAN Card / Form 60 at the nearest LIC Branch for linking of your Aadhaar / PAN number to your policies. While self-attesting, it's better to mention on the photocopies the purpose of furnishing the self-attested documents, i.e., for the purpose of linking of policies, in order to minimise the misuse, if any.

To access online services on the LIC website, the insurer had already made it compulsory to furnish PAN or Aadhaar number. Policyholders looking to register for online services will have to either provide PAN or Aadhaar number in addition to other details such as policy number and date of birth.

Tesla Electric Car Land's in India for the First time

The highly-awaited Tesla Model X electric SUV has unofficially marked its presence in India for the first time. The company is yet to decide its plans on the India launch.

Highlights of Tesla :

•  Tesla cars are being manufactured at the brand's production facility at Freemont in the United States. Coming to the most interesting part that is performance, the Tesla Model X electric SUV can do a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in a matter of just 2.9 seconds.

•  The acceleratyion is quite manic for an electric car and this can be achieved on the P100D trim. 

• This becomes possible with the help of two electric motors that have been mounted on each axle. 

• While the base model witnesses a combined maximum power output of 259 hp for both the motors, the performance-biased trim gets 259 hp at the front along with a 503 hp at the rear. 

• Talking of torque, the number is quite impressive at a whopping 967 Nm.

• The Tesla Model X SUV is offered in three variants that go by the name 75D, 100D and P100D. 

• The most exciting feature of the top end P100D trim is the ludicrous mode that escalates the car from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds as already mentioned. 

• On the other hand, the Tesla Model X P75D version takes 4.9 seconds to do the same sprint.

•   However, for the Model X P100D version, the company claims a total range of 474 kms and it has an electronically restricted top speed of 250 kmph.

• Another interesting highlight of the Tesla Model X is the fancy Falcon doors that open and close in a vertical manner.

• The prices for the Tesla Model X start at USD 73,800 internationally and reaches up till USD 1,28,300 for the top-of-the-line variant. 

As the particular model has arrived in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, its owner must have spent over Rs 1 crore to park the car in his garage. Only thing we have to wait & see,  how long will Tesla take to enter the country, officially.

South Indian Bank Now in Overseas transactions

South Indian Bank has successfully executed overseas transactions using blockchain technology .

SIB joins a niche group of banks in the global market to exchange and authenticate remittance transaction messages electronically on blockchain in real time. The pilot transaction was successfully executed by Forex transaction from UAE to India.

The implementation of the blockchain technology in transaction platforms conforms to the bank’s strategy to embrace emerging and latest technology for ensuring faster as well as safe transaction settlement. Besides delivering customer exuberance, this technology is simple, automated and fully secured with minimal data loss.

Now,SIB is having inward remittance tie-up with 4 banks and 34 exchange houses in all the GCC countries and in South East Asian countries such as Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. The bank has been aggressive in digital innovations and has launched it’s in-house developed mobile app SIB Mirror+, which offers secured digital e-lock for its customers that enables them to lock their accounts at their convenience.
